The Child Development Associate (CDA) is a nationally recognized credential
that requires 480 hours of experience working with children and 120 clock hours
of training. This 120 clock hours of training can be obtained at the community
college level or through other organizations like the regional offices of the
Mi4C Association. For more information about the Child Development Associate

The T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® MICHIGAN CDA Assessment scholarship helps cover
a portion of the cost of the $325 assessment fee charged by the Council for
Professional Recognition. (This scholarship does not cover the cost of
training.)
NOTE: T.E.A.C.H. awards scholarships for second setting CDA’s, but not for
renewals. CDA Assessment Scholarship Eligibility:
- Currently working at least 20 hours per week in a licensed child care
center/group home or regulated family home.
- As a teacher / assistant / aide earn less than $14.25 per hour.
- As a director earn less than $15.00 per hour.
- As a family provider/group home owner earn less than $15.00 per hour after
expenses.
- If working for a center or group home, the center/group home must agree to
sponsor the recipient.
