Michigan Child Care Futures Project

Michigan Child Care Futures Project is a Professional Development Program of the Michigan 4C Association. Click on the Types of Classes link to find out about the classes available.

What is Michigan Child Care Futures?

  • A series of classes designed specifically for people working in the field of early childhood care and education.
  • Each series of classes meets a specific need. The Basics of Child Care series provides the basis for the other classes, and it, or its equivalent, is required for some of the other classes.
  • Participants in each series of classes receive free resource materials.
  • All training hours count toward a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Participants may have the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
  • Many community colleges will award college credits for completion of Basic, Inclusive Child Care, Infant/Toddler or Administrative Futures classes.
  • Classes count toward the state training requirements.
  • Your regional 4C office can provide transcripts of all classes taken.

Who should sign up?

Any individual working in regulated or legally exempt child care (centers, family day care homes, group homes, aides, relative caregivers); parents and foster parents.

Why should I enroll?

As someone working in the field of early childhood care and education, participating in the Futures program will allow you to:

  • Grow personally and professionally
  • Learn how to make your job easier
  • Learn current best practices based on child development theory
  • Spend some time with grownups! Meet and support other child care providers
  • Earn a certificate of completion
  • Work toward formal training requirements for a Child Development Associate CDA) credential and/or national accreditation
  • Earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
  • Complete annual training hours required by Child Day Care Licensing.
